First solo exhibition Line of Pain
The first solo exhibition took place in A-Gallery, located in Tallinn’s Old Town, from September 7 to September 24, 2012 — the same year as the artist’s graduation from the Estonian Academy of Arts. In preparing for this exhibition, the artist practiced the technique of casting in sepia, drawing inspiration from musical instruments depicting the female form — namely, string instruments. At the exhibition opening, beautiful cello pieces by Bach were performed. It was a truly beautiful and soulful event.
Exhibition text: You know what touches your soul — and what can heal it or throw it off balance. Some sounds bring joy to the soul; others are impossible to listen to. In this world, there are also sounds that, when heard, strike through the soul like lightning — a hot current that seems to heat metal to its melting point, letting it flow through a predetermined hollow space, thus shaping the sound of one’s soul — into a cello, a violin, a lute, a guitar, or perhaps a double bass. It depends on which sound the soul is connected to at that moment. The works reflect lines that one often does not notice, yet that are always present within you.
The works in the exhibition were created using the sepia casting technique.
